Her parents are Harvey Welker, a Native American father, and Julie Welker, an African American Mother. Her father is an engineering and her mother is an estate agent. She graduated from the Germantown Friends School which is located in Philadelphia's Germantown neighborhood, in 1994. Then she attended Harvard College where she earned the Bachelor of Arts degree in 1998. Welker was married John Hughes in Philadelphia, who was a known marketing director. The couple have two daughters. The couple began dating. John husband of hers has an age difference of four years compared to her. The couple decided to move their relationship to the next level since things were going smoothly. They married each other on the 4th of March 2017.
