Dolly Parton was born on January 19, 1946, in Locust Ridge Tenn. She lived with twelve other kids. Her vivid imagination was a great way to get away from life's harsh reality. life. Even before learning to read or write she wrote herself songs. The first guitar she received was gifted to her when she turned eight. She began singing in a Knoxville Tenn station by the age of 11. Gold Band Records is a tiny, independent label. Her name was made for herself locally while still at high school, but always dreamed of having a bigger stage. After graduating from high school in 1964, she moved immediately to Nashville. The first charting record she had on Monument Records included Dumb Blonde and Something Fishy both in 1967. Porter Wagoner had been looking for a female singer for his show that was syndicated from the beginning. Parton became a member of Grand Ole Opry 1969 after contracting in 1969 with RCA Records. The band split in 1974 when her solo hits such as Joshua Coat of Many Colors & Jolene outsold the collaborations. The song by Parton, I Will Never Be Loved by You (for Wagoner), hit the top of the. number 1 position after the duo separated. The first time it made it to number 1 was in 1974.
